The Mumbai Police have issued a Lookout Circular for the driver of a speeding BMW that hit a scooter in Worli, resulting in a woman’s death. The vehicle was reportedly driven by Mihir Shah, the 24-year-old son of a senior leader of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. Authorities suspect Mihir was drunk during the incident, though his blood test report is still pending.

The vehicle is registered in Mihir Shah’s name, with police sources indicating that Mihir had been drinking at a bar in Juhu the previous night. On his way home, he asked the driver to take him for a long drive. The car came to Worli, where Mihir insisted on driving. Shortly after taking the wheel, the speeding BMW hit a scooter.

The scooter was carrying Kaveri Nakva and her husband, Pradik Nakva, residents of Worli’s Koliwada area. The couple, who worked as fish sellers, were returning home from Sassoon Dock when the BMW crashed into their two-wheeler. The impact threw them into the air, landing them on the SUV’s bonnet. As the car continued to speed, Kaveri was run over. The car fled the scene, and Kaveri was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Pradik sustained minor injuries.

Police sources allege that Mihir called his father after the crash, and his phone has been off since then. Four police teams are actively searching for him. The investigation also revealed attempts to destroy evidence. The car’s windshield had a Shiv Sena sticker, which was scratched off to conceal the vehicle’s connection to the Sena leader. Additionally, one of the car’s number plates was removed after the accident, but police identified the vehicle through CCTV footage of the area.

Maharashtra Chief Minister and Sena Leader Eknath Shinde has termed the incident “unfortunate” and assured action. “Law will take its own course; everyone is equal before the law. I have spoken to the police, and strict action will be taken,” he said.

The Mumbai police have issued a Lookout Circular (LoC) against Mihir Shah, who allegedly mowed down a woman in Worli while driving a BMW. After a day-long inquiry, the police arrested Shah’s father, Rajesh Shah, and their driver, Rajendra Singh Bijawat, on charges of helping the accused flee and destroying evidence. They will be produced in Bhoiwada court on Monday morning for further interrogation. Meanwhile, six police teams are searching for the absconding Mihir, who faces charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, among others.
