International campus of IIT Delhi opens in Abu Dhabi 

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, recently presided over the historic inauguration of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi Abu Dhabi (IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi). This event marks a significant milestone as it introduces the first international campus of IIT Delhi, a premier institution in India celebrated for its contributions to STEM education, innovation, and entrepreneurship. 

The opening ceremony was more than just a formal event; it was a launchpad for strategic partnerships with some of Abu Dhabi’s most prestigious institutions. Among these were Khalifa University, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, and Zayed University. These alliances are set to pave the way for joint research, innovative academic programs, and dynamic exchanges between students and faculty. 

The collaboration with Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi promises to be particularly enriching, fostering joint research initiatives, postgraduate student exchanges, and the organization of seminars and scientific meetings that will push the boundaries of knowledge. Meanwhile, the partnership with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence will focus on collaborative research through seed project grants, shared teaching endeavors, short-term training programs, and valuable internship opportunities. 

Zayed University’s partnership with IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi will further extend the institution’s reach, enabling collaborative research projects, co-supervision of graduation theses, and a robust exchange of faculty and students. Joint academic events will also be a key feature of this alliance, promoting a shared commitment to academic excellence. 

Khalifa University, known for its cutting-edge research facilities, will work closely with IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi to create joint research and academic programs, enhancing the learning and research experiences for both students and faculty members. This partnership underscores a shared vision of advancing scientific knowledge and technological innovation. 

During his visit, Sheikh Khaled toured the expansive campus, gaining insight into its diverse academic offerings. The curriculum, which includes courses in energy, engineering, and computer science, reflects a commitment to addressing global challenges through education and research. 

This new chapter for IIT Delhi not only strengthens India’s educational ties with the UAE but also represents a bold step toward fostering global innovation and collaboration in critical fields of study.
